Fashion - Honours
Created for the simple pleasures in life, the sun and the sea, “Pleasure of Leisure” is my 2021 fashion graduate collection. Inspired by my travels along the coastline, the collection is a play on Australian resort wear featuring swimwear, crochet, original prints and playful shapes. Through experimentation, I developed innovative flower-patternmaking techniques that became a driving creative force behind the collection’s silhouettes. Overall, the collection aims to transport you to a shoreline where the breeze is warm and the days are long - a little holiday for the mind and soul.
Ella Jacobson is a fashion design honours graduate and the designer behind the collection Pleasure of Leisure. With interests in elevated commercial woman’s wear, Ella creates fashion that is innovative, unique and wearable. She is inspired during the process of patternmaking as she finds a hands-on approach helps her create thoughtful and good-quality pieces. Moving in the direction of slow fashion, sustainable decisions are made throughout every step of the supply chain as being sustainably conscious is an important part of Jacobson’s morals in both her professional and non-professional life. Jacobson grew up under the Australia sun, always by the sea and it’s apparent in her work. Naturally she is drawn to the Australian costal lifestyle, and has thrived creating her latest resort wear collection that not only shows off her design, pattern making and sewing skills yet also her knowledge of swimwear and print design.
