EXPOSÉ

While most, if not all of the past have progressed and advanced, as a society we remain bound and wedges in the complications and ramifications of the past, including the momentous feminist movement. Therefore, using the crochet technique to create armour, generated the idea of ‘soft’ armour and suggests that even when we don’t want to wear protective wear in 2021, we always will be.

Polly McKevitt

Hello, my name is Polly. My collection Exposé was created by the notion of subconsciously protecting our bodies from a society that has not evolved, fighting political battles that mimic those of the past. I am working with the idea of trying to shield yourself while in reality being quite exposed. The armour here is more mental than physical, with wool typically providing comfort and warmth rather than a protective shield.
